He has been dancing over
22 years. He square dances because he really enjoys the companionship
and exercise dancing offers.
When He first started dancing He worked for Omaha Police Department as
a jailer, working the midnight shift. After 8 hours being locked up
with arrested people He was starting to think that they were the only
people out there. Then He started Square Dancing and quickly learned
that there are normal people out there and He could laugh and have a
good time. As the dancers are getting older there are less wanting to
get involved in the officer positions. That is the leading reason that
He stepped up and volunteered to be the current State President-Elect
and Belles N' Beaus President, in addition to the Secretary for the
2009 State Convention and Secretary for the new marking committee.
Square dancing has been so good to him with friends and fun that he
wants to insure that it continues on.

This couple moved from Buffalo New York in August of 1976
with five children, because he was transferred by Western Electric. They had
left all of their extended family back in New York. They started dancing in 1978
and danced with Bonnets and Boots for about seven years. They were too busy
attending Basketball games etc. Then after their children were all off on
their own they came back and have been dancing for over ten years.
They dance for several reason. They enjoy the camaraderie, the fun of
dancing, the exercise both mental and physical, and the price is right.
They hope to be dancing another ten years.

Doug has been
dancing since 1980. He was like most men and really did not want to
take lessons, but he was handcuffed and taken to the first night of
lessons. He was a policemen in the Air Force and his brother in law
was one also. His brother in law is the one that cuffed him. He fell
in love with the activity and has been a caller since 1981. He
found out that a square dancer is a friend that he hasn't meet yet.
He loves the fun of
dancing and the exercise that is both mental and physical.
He also loves calling to the different clubs and likes to be a little
different with his calling. He loves to see the smiles of other
dancers.

They square dance for the social interaction with other people. No matter
where they go to dance, they know they will be among friends and there will be no one
around to cause trouble to us or any other dancers. they can dance every tip if
they want, or can sit out and visit if they so choose. If they dance well, there is a
sense of accomplishment and unity with each other and our dancing partners. On
the occasions when they don't do so well, more often than not there is laughter
and good natured joshing about it. Both of them feel that square dancing is one
of the best life long pursuits they could ever have gotten involved with for the
exercise, fun and friendships that it affords.

concern. During her rehab she started using a tread mill, but it was boring.
She talked to the medical professionals and they recommended dance as an
acceptable aerobic program. Since that time they have danced on the average of 4
nights a week. They travel around the Midwest for
dance weekends and work their vacations around the dance activity. Four years ago
he donated a kidney to her to free her from dialysis and improve her lifestyle.
They were at dances as soon as they could in order to enjoy the social part of
dancing even if they could not dance themselves. Dancing has been a valuable part
